On screen, the priest and the soldiers moved through the dark hallways of the Barcelona complex. Elias leaned closer. The x265 encoding made the shadows impossibly deep—true blacks that seemed to swallow the light of his room. Then, the "Medeiros Girl" appeared.

The figure on the screen paused. She didn't chase the soldiers. Instead, her pale, elongated head turned slowly toward the camera lens. Elias froze.
