When Elias hit play, the screen stayed black for the first forty minutes. There was no sound, only the faint, rhythmic hiss of digital "snow."
The drive was labeled simply "DECOMMISSIONED 2004." When the technician, Elias, finally bypassed the encryption, he found only one file that wasn't a spreadsheet or a log: 0087b.avi .
